Help, XP 2100+ posting as 667

sygyzy

Lifer
I am using a Thoroughbred B XP 2100+ with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. I can choose the 13 multiplier fine and pair it with the 133 fsb, but no matter what it won't work.

Stock is 13 x 133 = I get 667 Mhz
If I try 12.5 x 133 = I get XP 2000+
I even tried 12 x 145 = I get XP 1900+

Running 2x245 Crucial PC2100. Should not be an issue, I am not overclocking. In fact it seems like I am underclocking right now.

Any ideas?

Try 6.5 and let us know what happens there. What BIOS revision does your board have at the moment?

1002. Man this is so weird! I really think it's a multiplier problem rather than a FSB becase I have my memory synced and when I use 133 FSB, it says Memory Clock 133. When I have it running at 145 (to try to compensate for the low multiplier), it says Memory Clock 145.

You want me to try 6.5 Mult? What FSB?

I know, but based on some stuff I've seen A7N8X owners report, it might be what works (assuming you want to run the system at default clockspeed). 😀 Easy enough to try...

Also, have you tried unplugging the system and resetting the CMOS? That could help get it back on track too.

Just rebooted. Got 866Mhz (6.5 x 133). I will try resetting CMOS tomorrow morning 🙁 Thank you.
