Hey guys, need some help. I am building a machine using a Zoom WinModem model number 1120M. The OS I'm using is Windows 2000 Pro. Other hardware:

Iwill KK266
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! Value

For some reason, I cannot get the modem to work. It tries to install the modem and it recognizes the name as Zoom 56K PCI Win Modem, yet when I query the modem, it says something about failure to open port: make sure the modem is on, etc. Has anyone else had this problem?? I need your guys help.

yeah, i've tried different slots and different irq's....i may have an idea that i used on my grandma's pc when she had a lucent win modem (zoom uses same chipset)...i had to install the modem first before installing the sound card...i'm going to try that now. hope someone else has a fix

okay, for future reference, in case anyone else has this problem, i reformatted and did a fresh install of win2k. i then did the install with only the video card installed (Prophet 4500). after installing all the drivers, patches, etc., i shut down and installed the modem in pci slot #6. i then installed the modem and it installed like a champ. i shut down and installed the sound card in pci slot #3. bad move. it uninstalled the modem and wouldn't let it be installed again. so i shut down and installed the sound card in pci slot #5. booted up, and everything worked. so, after i f*cked things up to begin with, this sounds like a good way to go when using these cards.
