i am in the process of building right now and the stock backplate is stuck on, even with the screws off. should i use the stock back plate or try to pry it off somehow? i have the zalman 7000b alcu. please help! thanks
Try the stock backplate, but before you start it up check to see that the heatsink is making good contact with the CPU (put the heatsink on and pull it off, make sure the thermal paste spreads evenly). If that doesn't work you can try to heat up the stock backplate with a hair dryer to loosen up the adhesive and pry it off gently. What motherboard are you using?
using k8n neo2. thanks, though. i was able to successfully remove it. it was unnerviing, however, becuase it was stuck pretty firmly with the adhesive.
