Installing a Zalman 9500 Here

Plugged it through the included fan controller into my CPU fan power on the mobo. I start my system, the CPU fan lights and starts spinnging, and then after 10 seconds stops. This is with the fan control set to maximum performance. I'm using an AMD Athlon X2 4400+
and a DFI LANParty UT NF4 Ultra-D. the fan still works, because if I turn it off and on again it does the same thing. Could it be it's not neccesary for the fan to spin all the time to keep it cool? I don't have a monitor hooked up yet, so I can't check CPU temps in the BIOS, and I don't think I want to risk my CPU and let it get to the BIOS.

The fan has to spin all the time.

You could try not using the power adapter and plugging it straight to the motherboard
CPU fan connector and see if it makes a difference!

Try calling Zalman, they are very helpful and polite.

I have a 9500 LED but haven't had any problems!

it does not have to spin all the time if you have quiet enable in the bios. my spin when start up but then stop until the cpu get to a certain degree then the fan automatic start
