Help with xircom 10/100 real port card bus ethernet

I just bought a xircom( model RBE-100) 10/100 card bus ethernet card for my new Dell laptop. I was using a borrowed 10Mbps card for a few days and had my network working. I put the new card in and Win Me found it right away and installed driver's for it. It appears that it is installed correctly but it won't work. The activity lights on the card are flashing indicating that it works, but I can't get anything over the network. I tried to ping it and got nothing but time outs. Any one have any experience with this particular card? Also, what network components do I need to have installed? I have TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and netBEUI installed. My father in-law says that the network(just my desktop and laptop direct connected) should work with just TCP/IP installed? Thanks for the help.

Go to the Xircom (3COM/USR) site and download the new patches/bios/drivers. Mine stopped working when I "upgraded" to ME, it looked like it should be working, but nothing happened until I loaded the new Xircom code and used the new drivers.
