Help with Xclio

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. I recently purchased an Xclio 450w PSU from Newegg along with an Athlon64 3000+ and EPOX EP-9NDA3J nForce3 ULTRA mobo. When I hooked everything up the mobo powered up for a 1/2 second and then shut down. I made sure everything was connected properly and tried another couple of times but nothing. I then hooked up my crappy Raidmax PSU that came with my case and everything worked great. I though maybe my PSU was defective so I RMA'd it to Newegg. Just got the replacement and tested it out and the same thing happened. Power for a millisecond and then shutdown. Does anyone have any suggestions for me...please!!

You think? It's not meant to be offensive it's just a quote from the wrestler The Rock. If you think it will get me some replies though out it goes.

I am not proficient with PSU issues like this but since the Raidmax works and the Xclio does not, I expect the problem to be with installing and connecting the Xclio. Maybe it is possible for the Xclio to have an extra or different power cable connection that the Raidmax does not possess, and this connection may not be plugged into the motherboard properly.

mechBgon has some good ideas concerning the ATX12V cable and the video card cable in this thread:

Did you check the voltage selection switch on the back to determine if it is set at 115V instead of the European standard (220V)? How about the power switch on the back of the power supply.

Maybe the Xclio is being grounded somehow.

Bump....any other possibilities? I really want to upgrade my PSU and don't feel like sending another one back to Newegg for no reason. There should be no problem using this PSU onmy mobo right??

I just noticed that this PSU has a 24 pin adapter and my mobo is 20 pin. The PSU seems like it has a little seperator where the extra 4 pins start. Does this mean I can use it by plugging in the first 20 pins(it doesn't fit starting from the other end)or do I need an adapter. I'm thinking that may be the problem.

Plugging in the 20 pins and leaving the 4 pins overhanging will work. Only reason you'd need an adapter is if you had something else near the ATX connector to get in the way of the 4 extra pins.

Crap, that's what I've been doing. Plugging in 20 and leaving 4 hanging off but I still can't get this PSU to work.

There are adapters available, similar to this adapter but the only adapters I am able to find with a quick search are 20pin to 24pin adapters. It seems you need the opposite, a 24pin to 20pin adapter.

I would recommend finding a 24pin to 20pin adapter and seeing if this corrects the problem.
