I bought a used X800pro modded to X800XT a few years ago and it can't run at the XT speeds anymore... I get artifacts in games/tests at those speeds, however if I knock down the clocks it becomes stable. I had to lower the clocks more and more as time went on and it got more damaged.

I was thinking about putting it in a spare computer. Should I just give up on the card?

It was flashed to open up the extra pipes, right? I don't remember how these mods work - it was so long ago. I was thinking about editing the bios, I want to keep the extra XT pipes open, but maybe bump down the default clocks a bit and, more importantly, reduce the core/ram voltage (I forget which I had to underclock to make it work fine, ram or core).

What do you guys think?

Check with this forum and posts by "Dolf". Used his instructions and flashing tool to open the pipes on my X850 Pro a few years ago. You might want to send him a PM to get his utility and instructions. He's pretty helpful. Your BIOS may be corrupted, or you may need a third party cooling solution. I bought an Arctic Cooling Silencer for mine to keep the temps down. It doesn't get much use anymore, but its totally stable with the current Cat 8.11 drivers.

I wouldn't spend too much time and effort on it. Even with the full 16 pipes open mine can only run WoW and LotRO on medium settings now.

OK thanks. I'll start with that thread.

It's gotta be better than the lame integrated mobo stuff. It has a zalman flower sink on it with some ramsinks. I think I can get it to run well again, maybe.
