Help with wiring - not an EE major

Current setup - Volcano 7+

New setup - Panaflo FBA-09A12H

Questions

1. Can I splice the red and black wires and connect them to the speed adjuster of the Volcano 7+ to vary the Panaflo's rpm?

2. If so, will the high setting give me the the stated rpm and cfm and the medium and low settings lower than stated rpm and cfm?

What you said in 2 is correct. What you said in 1 should work as well. The adjuster is just a variable resistor that changes the voltage to the fan. It may be easier to just buy a Zalman fan mate that would do the same thing for 5 bucks or so. There also will be a slight loss when using either of these things i believe.
