Hello,

I have a smc wireless router that I am using in my home. The problem is that the signal can only be picked up in adjoining rooms. I have tried moving the router around (within the existing room), alternated the antennas, etc. with no significant improvement in the rooms where the signal cannot be picked up.

What are my options for increasing the signal strength?

- buy a better router?
- can i buy a second router that will pick up the signal and push it to the other rooms?
- add larger rabbit ears for the router?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

(1) You could try a repeater, like the D-Link AirPlus DWL-800AP+. Whether it will work ok with other brands is iffy.

(2) You could try a Powerline+Wireless setup. I've always thought this sounded like a great idea, but powerline gets trashed a lot on these boards. I've done something very similar using phoneline instead.

Antennas may be another option -- others can better inform you on that. In general, wireless can be flakey, so make sure stuff is returnable.
