Sigh, there are several threads on this topic but no satistfactory answer.
I have 3 wireless routers. They all work great as stand-alone units.
I have a Netgear MR814 wireless router as the main unit. I have two clients attached by hardwire. I have a second desktop that I want to connect wirelessly using a second wireless router. I have a Linksys WRT54G or a D-LINK 614+ to use as a wireless access point CLIENT on my network.
My question is this: can I use the WRT54G or the 614+ as a CLIENT?
I've seen this already (thanks JackMDS): http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html
Steps I've taken on secondary router:
1. Change router's IP address outside of DHCP addressable range for main router.
2. Turn off Automatic DHCP
3. Attach LAN cable only to port 1, everything else is unplugged.
MR814 doesn't find the client. I'm either doing something wrong or none of these 3 routers support client mode.
