help with winXP network setup

I just went and setup 4 comps

see that network connection is detected but sez little or no connectivity

we go through the setup wizard, name the workgroup mshome and move on, with features like no internet access, and simple stuff so forth

what's wrong with this process? do you need msdos for manually configure this correctly?

firewalls get in the way, security settings? what?

Are these wired or wireless connections?

Are other computers working at this location? If so, how are they connected, and are they configured to use DHCP or static IP addresses?

Is there an active DHCP server (could be a router, domain controller, Internet proxy, ICS workstation, etc.) on the network?

The "Limited or No Connectivity" message usually means that the computer recognizes that there is a signal on its network connection, but it is not able to locate a DHCP server to obtain an IP address on that connection.
