very new to winNT, and am dual booting with 98 at the mo, till i get used to it. My problem is that i can't get my modem detected in NT.

In 98 it's detected on com3, but NT only searches com1 and 2

When you boot NT you have to go into your BIOS and set PnP OS Installed to No. Then try it again. What kind of modem is it? What have you already tried doing?

It's internal right? Well, you will need the drivers from the manufacturer. If that doesn't work, try added a port for the modem in Control Panel -> Ports. Use the settings that win98 uses (from Device Manager in 98) and then try detecting the modem again. Also, if it is plug and play, try disabling the PNP on the modem (if possible). You may also have to install the ISPPNP driver if it is ISA PNP and can't be changed to NON PNP mode.
