Every time i boot up my system.. i get this "problem with shortcut" thing.. adn every time i just press ok. it says "The shortcut 'ps2rate.ink' refers to a location that is unavailable. The location could be on a hard drive on this computer, on a network, or on a differnt computer on ur home network. check tomake sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that u are connected to the internet or home network, then try again" how do i correct that? ONE more question.. i had problems with my ethernet. so these people came and tried to fix it.. but they touched my computer, which they wern't suppoed to do.. so when i started my computer.. it told me that i was starting for troubleshooting.. or something like that.. and when i asked the guy.. he just said it was fine, and clicked never ask me this again.. and now i dn't see it anymore.. what is that all about? thanks for all ur help

If it happens everytime your start your computer. Check your start up folder, the shortcut(link) is probably in there.... PS2rate sounds like something to do with your mouse. You probably have some type of mouse control panel. Something must have changed on your computer. The file that the link(Shorcut) is pointing to, is no longer there. You could either take it out of the startup, or reinstall your mouse drivers/software.

The second problem I wouldn't worry about. When a tech is trying to fix a problem, they sometimes go into safemode for troubleshooting. When you see the starting windows message, if you hit the F8 key, it will give you a list of options Safe Mode, Command Prompt, Normal start. A few others too. SafeMode starts your system with minimum amount of drivers, it can make it easier to make changes and fix problems.

PS2 rate is a utility that "overclocks" the PS2 port to increase the smoothness of the mouse tracking.

Hit the F3 key to bring up the "find" box. Type ps2rate into the file/folder box and then hit find. If it finds it, write down the pathname. Now, reboot your computer and follow the prompts that windows gives you to track down the ps2rate file.

If windows doesn't find it, go to start-->setings-->taskbar--> and click on the "start menu properties" tab. Click the remove button and then scroll down to you find the startup folder. Click the "+" sign to the left of the folder. Highlight the "ps2rate" line and then click "remove" at the bottom of the box. Hit ok and restart your computer.

Your problem should be fixed now.
