help with windows media player? stutter? file too short?

some video files in media player play very strangely-

either the video stutters, or the video makes it to the "end" and stops playing, though the sound continues and I know theres more video to be played...

any way to fix this or does anyone know whats going on?

I am on a laptop, p3 1.13ghz, 512mb ram, and the cpu is no where near fully used when the video is playing
