I've seen my share of confusing posts so hopefully I can make this clearer...

Computer 1:
Windows XP Pro
Two LAN cards, one connected to broadband, one to hub

Computer 2:
Windows XP Pro

Computer 3:
Windows 2000 Advanced Server

All three are connected through internet connection sharing through a hub. So, at least I know they're all connected. I can surf the net with all of them and that seems fine.

Computer 1 can't see itself but can see Computer 3.

Computer 2 can see the shared folders from Computer 1 and Computer 3, but doesn't see itself on the network.

Computer 3 can see itself as well as Computer 1.

if that's confusing... everyone can see computer 1, but computer 1 can't see anyone, 2 can see everyone, but nobody can see it. 3 is seen by all, but can only see computer 1

I think in my attempt to make it clear, i've fuddled it further... but... anybody have any hints? I have IPX/SPX installed, but not NetBui (my Windows Pro doesn't seem to have that)

NetBEUI (NBF) is a non-routable protocol suitable for small networks. Support for this protocol in Microsoft Windows has been discontinued.

It is not installed nor is it available by default under Windows XP. However, the NETBEUI drivers are still included on the WinXP CDROM in the VALUEADD\MSFT\NET\NETBEUI folder.

To install NETBEUI,

1. Copy nbf.sys into the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ directory
2. Copy netnbf.inf into the WINDOWS\INF\ directory
3. Open Network Connection Properties under Control Panel
4. Click the Install... button to add the NetBEUI protocol
