Help with win2k and gf2pro

I just installed win2k because my geforce wouldn't work with win98SE for some unknown reasaon, anyway, it works now but it seems really slow when I play counterstrike, even in 640x480. It doesn't go higher then 45fps and its really annoying, all this trouble to get this damn card and it doens't even work properly. I tried using detonator 12.90 and the new XP drivers that just came out, I'm gonna try some other drivers too but if anyone else can help out I'd gladly appreciate it.

Is it a fresh install of W2K? Do you have any residual drivers from another card in there? I have an Athlon system running W2K and a Herc GF2Pro and it runs very well.
