Help with Win Me problem, very weird...1st time using ME and find it annoying!!

I realized that my system is very unstable after upgraded to win me
Whenever i open alot of programs, like 10 IE open/10 ms word/excel document open
I get the "resource not enough, have to close program message"
Seem like it uses up all of my system resources/ram opening all these programs, which i was able to do in Win98 and Win2k.

So what i need to do is, to use this free program called RamBooster to free up my ram when the memroy are all used up...which happens alot whenever i open alot of programs...very annoying...can't open adove photo, dreamweaver, cuteftp a word document and couple ie browsers at the same time....: (

Please Help, I have no clue of wats wrong with my system..

Try TweakMe and try this. I'm not on WinMe right now, but i've had good luck with it using TweakMe. Its shareware and the settings will stay after the program expires. I've set up some incredibly stable machines that wouldn't crash for a week or so of heavy use. I can't remember the settings, but i think its pretty self-explanatory.

Before anyone craps on WinME, let me tell you that is is much much more stable than Windows 98SE.

Now, make sure your drive that has the swap file has at least 500 MB free disk space. If not, Windows will be unable to grow the swap file when it runs out of physical memory. That seems to be the problem you're having right now.

Let me congratulate you on a wise OS upgrade, too. I like it 🙂

I have a 40g maxtor hd..
and i manually set the swap file to atlease 512mb....still the same problem.....: )
anymore suggestions...

i will try out the tweak though....still reading it : )

i agree me is much more stable even though it is a resource hog.The only thing I really don't like is it doesn't want you messing with dos.Its the control thing

Stable? All the systems I have worked on that have ME are about as stable as a taxi driver in rush hour traffic!! ME was a good idea but not enough planning I feel.

I again refer to that issue where ME doesn't free up resources after you close down a program, so you would need to use some sort of memory management software yeah.

Yup, that'll be your problem then. WinME is junk. JUNK I tell you!

MemTurbo is another good program for "degragging" your RAM and freeing up more for use. You should be able to find it here.
