Help with where to put pci cards in slots

Okay I need some help. I am not sure which config I should put my cards in to make sure I don't have much in the way of conflict or problems.

I am using an asus a7v133 mobo.

Here are how the cards go.

PCI 1 shared irq with AGP
PCI 2 Shared irq with promise controller
PCI 3 not shared
PCI 4/5 share 1 irq

Heres how I am setup now

PCI 1 empty
PCI 2 Linksys NIC for home network ( I have the promise controller disabled)
PCI 3 SB Audigy
PCI 4 NetGear NIC used for internet
PCI 5 empty

I use to have it like this

PCI 1 empty
PCI 2 Audigy
PCI 3 Netgear
PCI 4 Linksys
PCI 5 empty

and I have tried this

PCI 1 empty
PCI 2 empty
PCI 3 audigy
PCI 4 netgear
PCI 5 linksys

Can I get some opinions? Using winxp by the way.

not really having much in the way of problems. I just heard that the sound card is suppose to be in pci 3 so I have kinda rearranged for that reason.

Bah, the old PCI slot things are now old wives tales....I think, if it ain't broke....

and XP CAN be good with IRQ's, but if you have an install that it happens to go crazy, good luck. It's a pain, and I just reformat. Of course with Ghost I never worry about that anymore 🙂
