i am primarily a guitarist/bassist. i used to have a tama rockstar export with sabian cymbals. i would like a new set, but do not know what to look for. i liked the old pearl mounts, but with the new floating mounts, i like those too. which would be better? i play rock, funk, hip hop, and would like to study more jazz. i need a versatile set with a fairly warm tone and not too much ring. i like cymbals crisp and clean. i like a high, snappy snare, maybe piccolo? i can change that later if i need to, but would still like to know how to look for one. i need to know what wood to look for, what cymbals to look for, and what heads to look for. last time i just bought a set and it was fine, but now i want a nice reasonably priced set that will last and i will be happy with. i've always liked pearl, ludwig, dw, and some tama. i see gretsch, but am not sure if it is what i am looking for. i also hear about these other companies, but have no clue. please help, it is greatly appreciated.
