Well I dont see a internet forum and networking forum seems to local lan related I decided to post here and if you want to move the thread you can do so.

A few weeks ago as directv now user which I will refer to as DTVN I found out I was only getting 1 local stations which is in RI ABC.

I live in Taunton MA 02780 and when I used DTVN local channel lookup it does say that the local I should receive.

I went on Facebook complaining about this that and was told there are 5 Boston locals avail including ABC, CBS NBC and FOX and I am pretty mad I can watch those locals through DTVN.

So I tried to fix the problem by changing my zip and billing info on the DTVN in chrome and lo and behold after the info I see was changed I still only getting the 1 live ABC local.

One of people mentioned my ip address but they seemed to be talking about if I used DTVN on my mobile phone which in my case dont matter as I am always at my home address so I could not test from a different location anyways.

Tonight I curious to test DTVN using my vpn connecting to NY and as soon I as fired up DTVN on chrome again DVTN thinks I live in NY and gave me all the locals that I been missing which is great to know as using that method I can watch all the networks and getting NY news to watch as well.

So now I know that my ip address trick works unfortunately my vpn provider PIA does not have any Boston servers to use so I could receive all the Boston locals I been waiting to watch so I need a good vpn that has Boston servers to use.

Posting now hoping to figure out the last piece of this puzzle!

I've never used the service, but IPVanish has a server in Boston and a 7-day free trial.

Too expensive and has no proxy which I use. PIA has been good getting 2 yrs for $60- from a promotion. I trying to see if PIA can get some Boston servers cant hurt to ask anyways.

Hosting in Boston is expensive, especially compared to NYC, NJ, and Northern VA.
The east coast has cheap hosting, just not in/around Boston.

its DTVN that has made it a pita dictating that my zip code in taunton ma should get RI for there local channels so that only reason I need a server that DTVN would see to give me the Boston locals. I am so annoyed that they are doing this in the first place and I have to use DTVN for my streaming as I been getting 100 channels for $35 with the promo I got.

I cant think of any other place other than Boston would even host there own vpn servers as it is.

As a update I canceled cyberghost and got ipvanish as it has the proxy I wanted and there is a app that I can install to my amazon firetv devices and has some Boston servers.

I just use the app set it to Boston server and with DTVN beta it uses my Boston locals.
