Not sure if everyone is familar with this pop-up, but it is the one from that pops up saying "your computer may be infected with spyware" and has a yes or no prompt. Normally I just close the window, but this time, my slow computer stalled and I was hitting the keyboard out of frustration...and when it came back to life, i had accidentally ok'd the yes to the pop-up and now my computer has all these things trying to install on my machine and is lagging the computer like crazy.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can purge my system of this infestation? I appreciate any ideas.

Thanks

Well, you don't say which OS. But presuming XP, I'd suggest system restoring to before you had the little accident and then install SP2 which includes a popup blocker.

Best,

I ran geek superhero and was able to get rid of all the spyware stuff infected the computer. The only thing left is something called "power scan" program I can't get rid of. Also, now something is messed up with my internet connection. I get a dns error and can't connect to the internet.

How can I get my internet back online?

Thanks

Corrupted winsock is what I know is what the problem. I ran a ping test and I get the host unknown, so I am sure it is the winsock problem. I used the win2fix.exe and it got rid of all my winsock files, now I don't know where to get them back? I tried the Lspfix.exe, but that won't work until I can get my winsock 2 files reloaded.

Anyone know where I can recover these files?

Thanks
