Help!! I am trying to install a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI card in my Soyo 7IWM/L motherboard. It is an intel 810 chipset with the onboard video. I removed the intel 810 video drivers and installed the V3, but now the system won't boot. It gives me a boot disk failure message right after
"verifying DMI Pool Data"
Boot from ATAPI CD-Rom: Failure
Disk Boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.
When I do it gives me the option of starting the computer with or without CD Rom support or reinstalling the Win 98 CD. Why should I have to reinstall Win 98? Help...
It did almost make it into windows once, but wound up with a minilog invalid page fault in Module MSVCRT.DDLL AT 0177:78011374, Then gives me the fatal exception OE 0177:Bff9DBA7
I am totally stuck, which should come as no surprise, given my username. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am beginning to see why the integrated video motherboards are so despised. Thanks in advance, Chuck

You have to turn off the onboard video through either the bios or a jumper depending on the board. Until then, you have simply removed the drivers from the video it is still trying to use.

Couple of things:

1. Are you sure you removed only the 810 drivers and nothing else?

2. Try to boot into windows safe mode. As the system is just passed the bios memory check, hit F8. You must do this before the Win98 splash screen comes up. Select safe mode on the menu that pops up. Once windows is in safe mode, try a restart.

3. You should definitely look to the bios/jumper to disable the on board video. Please check the manual, unfortunately, the manual for this board is not available from Soyo's site yet.

4. The nice thing about Win98 is that you can run setup and have it "fix" whatever is broken. So, if it's asking for Win98 setup, you could just do that.
