Hi all,

Just set up an AMD64/k8v/venus7+ system, but the HSF is LOUD!

At idle, I get 48 cpu / 40 mobo. Under full load, I get 56 cpu / 41 mobo. I only have 1 exhaust fan (pana L1a) in the case now, so maybe I need another - is 40 too hot for the case?

I know that the venus 7+ has a variable speed fan on there - but how do I control it? It's running at 5-6k all the time right now - regardless of idle/load. I'd like to dial it down and run it at 3k to see where the temps go - if necessary, I can add another pana L1A to the case to get the overall temps down.

Anyone know how to go about this?

Thanks!

Ok - I changed things around a bit... plugged the venus 7+ HSF into a fan only PSU lead instead of the mobo header. I don't have an RPM reading anymore, but it's WAY quieter.

I also added another L1a as a front intake, now my results are this:

idle 53/32
load 61/34

Is 61 too hot for this chip to be running?

Thx!

I think 61 is safe but it does seem a bit high.

I never got why Thermaltake went with such a silly name for a HSF - it's got the same name as a women's razor! (Not to mention the Roman goddess of love, mother of Cupid and lover of Mars, but that's another story...)
