I recently just switched my 4-pin 12V connector, to use the 8-pin EPS connector on the motherboard, and I noticed a few anomalies when I was monitoring my system with Asus PC Probe II and Speedfan. Occasionally, Asus Probe would report that my vCore temperature has dropped below its threshold, and it reported that the voltage was at 0.01V for one time, and 2.1v another time. Those numbers look unreal to me. Secondly, at the same time when this is happening, the CPU temperature would spike up to 75C without going back down. Initially I thought maybe PC Probe was just buggy, but then Speedfan also reported the same CPU temperature. However, looking at the core temperatures with Speedfan, TAT, and CoreTemp, they remain low (28C). So these numbers are really not making any sense to me - both the sudden vCore drop/spike and CPU temp spike. When I rebooted my system and went back into BIOS, the CPU temperature was normal. I'm not even sure if it's related to my switching the 4-pin 12v to the 8-pin 12v.. might not even be related, but I was hoping someone could tell me why these vcore/cputemp spikes are happening and whether there's something wrong with my system now.
If it helps, I run with no OC:
Intel E6600
Asus P5B Deluxe
Seasonic S12 500W PSU
Thanks A LOT in advance.
