I just tried to get my scanner to work on my new rig. How to I make sure that the onboard usb ports are connected. I do not think they are up and running as I can not see them under system devices. Rig specs:

T/bird 1200/266
Iwill KK266
40 GB IBM Deskstar
Win2k SP/2 OEM
Gainward G/Force GTS Pro/450
Plextor 16x CDRW
Toshiba 16x DVD

I am trying to install a Visioner 6100USB. I went to their site and downloaded the Win2k drivers and they are in the regeistry. I go to load the device through add hardware and no go. I checked the BIOS and set it to PNP/OS but I could not find anything in the BIOS to Enable/Disable USB.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

They're not listed under system devices, but below it under Universal Serial Bus controllers. You might try connecting the scanner, not directly to the motherboard, but through a powered USB hub.

USB is disabled on the KK266 by default, you have to enable it in the BIOs. It's in there, you have to page to the bottom of the screen to find it near the bottom. Second you should install the USB drivers from VIA, then the filter drivers from Microsoft for the VIA chipset. Then you need to install the TWAIN drivers for whatever it is you are going to be plugging into the USB, usually it's best to not have it plugged in before you install it's drivers.
You should be up and running after that.
