Help with USB storage/SD card

Hi all,

I'm having trouble reading SD cards on my Win 7 PC. Whenever I plug them in to my USB card reader or enable USB storage on my Evo 4G, a "Removable Disk" shows up in my list of drives but clicking on the it results in the message "Please insert a disk into drive X:".

It used to happen to my Touchpad too, but since I installed CM9 and have it connecting as a media device it hasn't had a problem. In WebOS, though, which tries connecting as USB storage, the same error happens. I've searched the net and SevenForums for some help with this issue but none of the solutions I've tried have worked.

What I do know is this:

1) If plugged in at boot, the card/phone can be read, but only for that time. If I unplug them and then plug them back in, the same problem comes up.
2) When the "Please insert a disk" message comes up, the drives show up in Disk Management as RAW and I have the option of formatting them, but I know they are NOT RAW because they have data on them (either photos from camera or programs from the phone).

Any thoughts on how I might get this fixed? I'm completely stumped.

Thanks!
