I've been using my USB hub for some time and has been working wonders. However for whatever reason it came unattached the other day and now I cannot get anything to work with it. The hub is picked up but when I try USB Router / Printer / Flash Drive none of them are picked up, any ideas?

Probably one of these:
1. Check to see if you also disconnected its power plug
2. Try connecting it to a different USB port on the PC
3. You killed it, spend $10-20 and buy a new one

USB hubs are evil. My friend's computer had it's ram fried by the USB hub when he experienced a power outage. The hub was using an external power source. Luckily, lifetime warranty on the ram.

That's actually quite interesting, as I've been a bit concerned about that too. I have a self-powered USB 1.1 hub that I'm using, and I have had issues in the past when I power-down the main rig and back again, the USB hub/bus/port that it is connected to, or the devices on it, don't reset/initialize properly. I have to unplug the power to the USB hub, and plug all of the devices back into it again to get it to reset.

I started thinking about how the +5v might be drawn by the system/mobo when the main power was off. I don't know, do most self-powered USB hubs have a decent power setup with some diodes or something, to prevent accidentally attempting to power the main system? I guess in your friend's case the answer was no. :(
