right now, i'm working on a computer that is very odd. First of all, the lithium battery was dead and i had to replace it, the mobo is 2 months old. next, every once in a while, the video feed to the monitor goes out and the card has to be reseated for it to work. i have come up with some hypothesis and would like to know your opinion about them and\or any other help that you could provide me. thanks for you time

1. the owner of the computer has an old house and no surge protector, the resulting power fluctutations would cause this to happen.
2. the dead lithium battery was causing the IRQs to be constantly reset and this would cause conflicts to occur that would knock out the video
3. just a plain IRQ conflict that is causing the malfunction
4. the video card is bad and the only choice left is to change the video card.

old wiring and not even a surge protector, Shame! You should get a cheap UPS to even out power flow, might not solve your problems but it cant hurt ;)

bump and update,
i brought the computer back to my house and replaced the battery. at first i got the same error voice from the comp and no video, but i thought that maybe the battery wasn't charged, so i waited with the computer running for 2 minutes and then rebooted and everything is working fine. does that mean the computer is okay or that it just needs more testing?

did a burn in and went to move the comp and when i plugged it back in, i got the same error and it was solved by just tapping the video card. i guess that the mobo just doesn't hold in the card very well. thanx for everyone's help
