Help with unknown device in device manager.

Hello all. I have replaced the one hard drive in a friend's computer. The only problem I am having is in device manager, it shows an unknown device. It says the location is "on Intel ICH10R LPC Interface controller -3a16". I can't find the driver for it anywhere. Thanks for any advice.

MB- ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA 2.
INTEL E8500 CPU.
WIN XP HOME ALL UPDATED.

Did you install ALL of the drivers from the ASUS driver download site? It's a java site and I can't link directly to the downloads page for your specific motherboard, but you can get there from here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

I recently had same problem with an Asus motherboard, except it only said "Unknown Device". Turned out I had to do what Fardringle suggested. Look real close. The one I needed was "ACPI driver for ATK 0110 virtual device".

This thread http://vip.asus.com/forum/view...page=1&SLanguage=en-us indicates you need same driver. "At first it was only a unknown device at "Intel(R) ICH9 LPC Interface Controller - 2918", but when i removed it it was recognised as "ATK0110 ACPI utility". Confusing but I would expect Asus CD to install what is needed, I had no access to it.

Thanks guys. Installing PC Probe fixed the problem.
