help with ubuntu, secure web sites

I've been using ubuntu for a good while now. My wife has been doing on-line banking for some time now with firefox. All has been fine and good.

Late to the game, I just installed dapper 2 weeks ago..
I've been tweaking and updating packages for the past week or so. My wife tells me she can't connect to her on-line banking any longer like she used to.
I've tried it myself, doesn't work. Current FireFox, FF2, Opera, Konqueror, nothing loads the page anymore.
Looking through Synaptic "History", I've installed and removed some stuff, but nothing to do with web browser stuff. Only things I've been toying with lately are, Lame (mp3z) and Flash web plugins (and both work fine).
Anyone know why I can't connect to online banking any longer.
I'm sure it's something I've added/removed, but what.

I'd be happy with even a best guess at this point,

You may want to see if anyone on the Ubuntu support forums has experienced similar problems or knows how to fix it.
