Im having a little trouble getting to work. I have to socket366 celerons with slotkets of course. If I just put one cpu in, the green led comes on and then it boots up with no problem. However after I add the second celeron, the led light(green) still comes on but it doesnt boot up? What could be the problem? Is there anything I have to do to enable smp on the celerons? Man, I want to hurry up and get these babies cracking!!

btw Im using an msi-6905 slotket and a generic slotket. Maybe this is the problem?

As I recall from memory, the older Cellies are not capable of working in dual boards!

Maybe some of the hardware gurus can elaborate on this!

Keep the thread up and someone will eventually give the definite answer :p

imhotepmp,

You would do best to get yourself a second MSI-6905....the reason I say that is they have jumpers specifically for running dual Celery rigs. They can also be modded for coppermines as well. You are most likely experiencing a conflict between the 2 different slotkets.

to add to and reinforce what Mike said above... the 6905 has a jumper to enable SMP .. and the other slocket should

try identical slockets

Yes, get another MSI Slotket.
Others flavors of slotkets might do, but being you want to run dually, get the same kind to avoid compatibility problems.

I've seen cheap generic Slotkets, that won't even O/C single.

But be WARNED! Once you've tasted dualism, it takes more than a 12 step program to go back to singles. ;)

Umm... the problem isn't that old celerons won't work, its that new ones won't, any Celeron 2 will not run SMP, they are not capable, however, the old ones are capable, you just need an SMP capable slotket, hope that helps. (I agree with everyone, the generic slotket is probably the problem)

The early Mendocino Slot1 Celerons couldn't do SMP either on a Dual Slot 1 board. However, there were some "mod" tips in which some soldering was needed. I believe Dr. Pabst wrote an article on that way back.
