Help with Thunderbird and Outlook Express

ok my mum and dad have their own email account, but use the same computer and same computer account

in thunderbird their email accounts show up seperate. one named Mac the other Wendie. but for some mysterious reason, thunderbird just will not let them send mail. says the smtp server cant be connected to.

outlook express, with the same settings and accounts works fine... only problem is, i cant get the accounts to be listed seperately. Outlook is just bundling all their mail into one big box.

how do i set outlook up so that i have a seperate Inbox, sent, trash, deleted etc for my mum and dad?
 
There's a pretty huge support site for Thunderbird and Firefox. I'm sure if you look you can find your answers there.
