help with this computer issue

Just recently my wife's computer started acting stupid. Its in our bedroom so we shut it down for the night. The past few days when you try and turn it on the next morning, it starts to boot, sometimes it gets to the beginning of the xp loading screen, other times it wont even get there and then it just powers down, like you pulled the power cord or something. If you press the power button again nothing happens. IF you unplug it for awhile then it will boot up again, most times but not always. I replaced the PS in it recently because the old one died. And this one seems to be working ok, there is a light on the MB that comes on when its active, and this one is still lighting the light when it should be. Dunno what it could be. Could be PS be bunk? Its been working fine for about 1 month.
Its an PC1Wp-Fe AT motherboard (dunno who makes it)with a 250W ps, a stick of 256 and 64 pc100 ram,
P3 733...... thats pretty much it.

any ideas?

This is just a shot in the dark, but look at the capacitors on the motherboard. Look very closely and see if any of them are swollen (puffed-up), leaning over or leaking a brownish-white fluid. If the caps are bad, they could have killed your last power supply...
