Help with this Cisco CLI problem

Hi all,

Well I'm only a newbie in Cisco stuff so please bear with me if I'm asking something stupid

I was trying to setup a loopback interface on my Cat2950, I've entered "config t" mode and I typed the command "interface loopback 0" but the IOS keeps telling me that I've got an invalid input on the first "o" of "loopback".

Am I doing anything wrong or does the 2950 not support loopback??

I believe that since the switch is a layer two device, there's really nothing to loopback.

It also doesn't ping to 127.0.0.1

Do a "int ?" and see what you get.

ScottMac: Hm... Is that so. I think you're correct in saying that. Obviously my ingnorance has got me again!

slvrtg277: Well the int ? command shows the Loopback command as valid just won't let me use it as ScottMac has pointed out. Oh well....
