Help with these two FS/T deals? LMK how you guys would handle this.

Hello everyone,

I sold a XFX 8800GTS 512MB on this forum a few weeks ago to damnrena. My problem is I originally bought the card from Biak two weeks prior and he did not give me the registeration code for the lifetime warranty and now damnrena is on my AS* to get the code. I have emailed him and PM'd him several times and no response. He is also a new trader and I dont think he visits much lately. LMK what you guys think is the best way to handle this.

Also I got a PM from a member a few weeks ago about a video card I had for sale. He asked me if this card was "PCI" and if it would work with Half-Life. I told him yes and he purchased the card via paypal. Anyway I shipped the card. He has since recieved the card and he told me he was on the phone with tech support for 4 hours trying to get this thing installed and he finally figured out that he needs PCI not PCI-E which is what I sold him. Who in the HELL games on a PCI motherboard made in 1999 anyways he shipped the card back without even telling me and the card arrived today. I dont mind giving him a refund but it pisses me off:| that someone doesnt know what he is buying😕. Anyway LMK what you guys think about this deal as well.

BTW I am sort of a new trader myself I joined in March of this year, but I already have 45 postive heat. And I treat everyone the way I want to be treated, but these last few deals are aggravating. Anyway Thanks

Concerning your second part: He asked if it was PCI, you said yes but it wasn't really a PCI card, it was a PCI-E card?
Is that correct?
If so, you told him what he was buying. Should he have not believed you?

Ya, second situation was your fault. Not everybody who buys hardware is going to know all the latest info. You're lucky he even knew what he needed. 😉

QFT, You owe him a refund and you pay shipping on the second one. First one, don't claim you have something you don't. IE if you said lifetime warranty but you didn't have it IN YOUR NAME yet then you sold something you don't own, which is against the rules.

I find for the non-OP in both cases.

1. If the OP told the first buyer that the card had a lifetime guarantee, I agree.
2. Concur

Now a Mod needs to have a talk with this seller.

what a crappy seller you are. you sell something you don't have? seems you better get the damn code and give to the guy you are screwing.

then on the second the buyer ask if it is PCI you say yes and send him a PCI-E card and complaine that he does not not know what he is doing? WTF?

seems he knew exactly what he needed and you have NO CLUE what you are doing.

OP you will have a PM from me later on.

Based on your attitude alone in this post, I'd never trade with you.

I wouldn't say it attitude is horrible he just doesn't seem that bright. Things that would be intuitive to a good seller (oh yeah I did say PCI and yes PCI is different than PCI-E, I should refund his money) just don't seem to click for this guy.

Guys,

Please give advice.
He may not be experienced. He did the right thing posting here asking for advice.
Please don't make him regret it.

It takes everyone time to learn anything.
Don't be impatient. That is not a good quality for a guide/advisor/coach/mentor/....

ok..

hey OP! some advice.

1) don't put something on FS/FT when you dont' really own the item. it keeps you from looking like a scammer and screwing over people.

2) IF some ask for a pci card send them a PCI card not a PCI-E card. When you do DON'T come a forum and say he does not know what he is buying when YOU screw up.

Best advice is give both parties the money +shipping. i fnto you will look far worse here then you already do.

1) You shouldn't sell something with a warranty unless you have all the information to go with it. If you didn't clarify whether or not there was a warranty to the buyer, then it's the buyers mistake but you should at least try your best to assist them. If they assumed there was a warranty and you specifically told them there was NOT, it was their mistake.

2) You sold them the wrong card, You owe them a refund plus shipping. They wanted PCI, you sold PCI-e. You need to know what you are selling.

I expected advice not put downs. I am a very easy person to deal with and the two members in these situations are being taken care of. I didnt know that you had to have a registration code from the first buyer of the card I have never bought a XFX product before there for I never listed any type of warranty in my thread. Also what do you mean I didnt own the card I bought it here two weeks ago from a member on this forum and I was told it came with a lifetime warranty and I never recieved any code. Anyway everything is being taken care of. The member with the PCI video card is being refunded. And I am working along with a moderator to get the code for the XFX card. I will not post anything here again asking for advice. What is wrong with some of you all I need is advice on what you would do in these situations not put downs.🙁 And on that matter if you dont have anything good to say shut up. And for the members that gave advice. Thanks I really appricate everything.

BTW: My FS thread on the ATI X800GTO PCI-E card said the card was PCI-EXPRESS and the member that bought from me assumed PCI-E means PCI. It was a honest mistake. It took the guy that bought the card 5 hours of tech support to figure out the card was not regular PCI.😕

I never said anything in my thread about a lifetime warranty on my XFX card. However everyone knows that XFX products carry a double lifetime warranty.

I can understand it was partially my fault on the PCI card deal and that member is being refunded. But it was not my fault on the 8800GTS I never stated anywhere the card came with a warranty. So I am refunding the PCI card deal but I am not refunding the 8800GTS since the member is happy with the card and she recieved exactly what she paid for. I am going to help her get the code.

I thought AT was against those buying and reselling ... I know it happens a lot from here to ebay which IMHO should qualify as a 'dealer'.

Anyway in regards to selling a card prior to having everything you should have as well as stating the card was PCI instead of PCI-E...that's on you to make right not the buyer. I have been in this situation before even with a seller having the other seller ship directly to me. Then I am stuck in the middle of he said/she said of what I got vs what was advertised. It usually turned out the seller I bought from was highly rated and the seller he bought from a dirtbag.

LNIB XFX 8800GTS (G92) OC Alpha Dog Edition

everything is in the retail box and includes company of Heros for PC. I bought this from biak 2 weeks ago and decided to go with a GTX 260 SLI setup instead. I am asking $120 shipped. I need to sell this since I just bought a new video card. LMK Thanks Michael

you said EVERYTHING was in teh box and go on to say EVERYONE knows it had double lifetime warrenty wich then would make it a big selling point.. yet you do not add the warrenty card? so i guess not everything was in the box.
