Help with Supreme Commander 2

Just got the game on Steam for 10.99.

I cant seem to get the hang of it. I have been playing skirmish games against the AI, and the AI keeps kicking my butt. Is this just a tank rush game or what?? Even on easy AI, the comp just continually rushes you and never seems to run out of resources and seems to know exactly what you are doing and where to attack.

Anyone got any hints about what strategy to use, which research trees to do first, which units are strongest, etc??

For a game that was criticized for being too simple, it sure seems more difficult than the first game. I am not a great player, but I am decent at strategy games. What am I doing wrong??

If you're bad at almost any strategy game the best way to improve is usually to just focus on getting more stuff. Until you can effectively get stuff worrying about what stuff you actual get isn't usually very good unless the game just isn't very well balanced.

if you're sitting around with more than a couple hundred mass, that's a pretty sure sign that you're not doing well. you should be building as fast as you earn.

expand to at least 8 mass extractors early on.

build multiple factories for the type of unit you will be concentrating on, and 1 or 2 of the others. So if you're going for land, build at least 3 land factories, with a couple air/naval thrown in. get engineers to assist factories so they build faster.
