help with spywear

Hey all, I am running spybot, ad-aware and I also have HI-jack this...I have also ran norton antivirus and it found nothing.

Everytime I run spybot I keep having the following listed:
Clickbank, DoubleClick, FastClick and MediaPlex.

I keep fixing them and they keep coming back. I have IE pop up adds with "CiD:" all listed in title box. ( dont even use IE i use firefox). Also what ever this CiD is, it also modified my C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file:

These things are annoying, how can I get rid of them without wiping my system?

This doesn't look good. I would physically disconnect this pc from the internet until a resolution is determined. The hosts file modification is particularly disturbing - it seems familiar but can't place it.

Check here for help. See if anyone else is reporting similar circumstances.

If ie6 is run, what version is displayed with help:about?

The link below has to do with CiD removal. There are many steps to follow. I would take their advice and follow them as stated.

The third post says the OP was able to remove CiD from Add/Remove programs. Maybe you will get lucky. There is some great advice on how to deal with the results from Hijack This too.

At the Security Forum here, you will see some great alternatives to Norton. Faster, cheaper and with minimal impact on your system. Norton has a reputation as a resource hog.

Norton is crap!!! Grab AVG 7.5 with Fire wall, Spydocter full version from pc tools. $100 for two years protection is good.

Voted best in Atomic.

You should download and run this program if you haven't done so even if you think everything is fixed. I'm betting you'll still find some more with this.
