I cant get my Socket A tbird in my KT7. How much force am I allowed to put on the chip to pop it into place? Im scared I might crack it.

Very little, almost none. They are ZIF sockets (Zero Insertion Force Sockets) and the processor should just drop into them. If the don?t want to go in a very, very small tap with one of your fingers should do it.

Check to make sure there are no bent pins on the processor. I friend of mine dropped his Duron 650 at the shop and bent about 40 pins. We tried to get it in the socket but it wouldn?t drop in so we just got a pair of very small pliers and bent them all straight.

When i put my t-bird in a kt7, the thermistor was in the way, so I had to bend it down a little to make the processor fit in
