ok- i have an office with 10win 98 machines using wingate server with 2 nics serving up internet access via a cable modem. This is a small NT domain. The PDC has a login script that maps drives. no BDC, no other servers. The PDC has dhcp scope of 1.1.1.10- 1.1.1.255

When i install the router- Everyone can gain internet access but cannot logon to the domain.

Things I have tried-

disabled the dhcp scope on the NT server and let smc barricade to the DHCP- that worked but could not logon to the domain.

disabled the dhcp service on the barricade and assigned an ip that was within the same subnet as the nt server box . I tried 1.1.1.70 for the lan ip for the router. can't get out on the internet. even told the client that it has a new gateway.

tried to have the NT server box get an IP frm the router as well so they are all on the same subnet IP wise and was unable to get the NT server to obtain an IP because obtain was greyed out and yes i was the admin on the box. went into service and started the DHCP client service and I get an internal NT error 2104.

can someone help me so i can get this router working in my dads office?

I am MCSE and I am quite embarrased but oh well

mark

pm or icq or email or call me or I can even call you- I dont care, just need advice

Install the router without DHCP enabled on it, use an address not in the scope like .1 (hint, Then in the DHCP setup in the WinNT server, configure the additional options to set the default gateway as the routers address, assign it the DNS addresses in this setup also. From there ensure all of the clients are using TCPIP, have netbios binded to it, and it is configured as the primary protocol.
