Ok, I have a folder that has 48 parts to it and a .sfv file. The 48 parts will open with winrar, but I don't think that's what I want to do. What program do I need to use to combine these 48 parts into the 1 part it's supposed to be? Thanks

I know this goes in Software, but I kinda need the answer quick, and people check up here much more. Sorry

I know, if you look at my post I said that. If you'll kindly go to the software forum and answer my post there, I'd appreciate.

Open the the file with the .rar existension with winrar. You can extract the original contents then.

sfv is simple file verification. You have to get a program for it and then you run the sfv file and it checks all of the rar files to make sure they are not corrupt.

Why are SFV files still included since PARs does the same thing and more?

Because people don't use them very often, .par files create a lot more data that needs to be sent, when a SFV file is tiny in comparison.

You don't have to download the entire par set. Just the *.par file. The filesize will vary from 1kB to at most 100kB. So I still don't see a reason to include *.sfv files in posts. Also why do people still insist to have both the *.nfo and *.sfv files in the parity set? This was annoying before Par2 was created.

Goddamnit. That's one of the easiest questions I've ever seen someone ask. If he can't figure it out - and can't even post it in the right forum - he doesn't deserve an answer.

 Cheers Nik! Keep fighting the good fight.

I answered it in the correct forum. I know I seem like a jerk, but many people hate neighbors who actively participate in helping to clean up their community because they think the neighbors should be stupid little sheep that wander around instead of doing something productive. Well... okay almost-productive. ;) :p

Anyway, I've never seen anything that used a .sfv file. Maybe I just missed it or something while burning the ISOs or rebuilding the .exe or something, but I don't recall ever seeing one.

If file verification is all you want, sfv is a simpler & less resource-intensive solution, both for the uploader to create and the downloader to utilize. Try verifying a DVD image with par vs. sfv, sfv is significantly faster. I don't have a problem with them being distributed in tandem, it's easy enough to ignore the sfv if you have no use for it.

Because they're morons. Most people don't do it thankfully.

You're an idiot. Fvck off. If you don't know how to read, maybe you shouldn't be posting in the forums. If you're still confused with what I'm talking about, look at the very first post. Take deep breaths if you get light headed.

Also, sorry I don't know how to do this. I guess you were born knowing everything and it is therefore your job to mock others that don't. Again, fvck off
