help with setting up sourrund sound with pc and home theater system

hi sorry i been gone so long but i joined the army and been deployed and various other stuff, i had to reregister. i have an epox 8rda+ mobo and a samsung home theater in a box system. on the mobo it has 3 jacks for audio. mic and 2 speaker outs. i heard this mobo onboard audio supports 6.1 well i have only one output from the mobo going into the l and r aux inputs on the home theater receiver. its a split stereo y plug, its the right plug. anyways i cant get nothing other then the 2 fronts and subs working. if i put receiver on pro logic 2 the rears just mimic the fronts, its not seperate. i used various games speaker tests and its all the same. now is there a way i get get a wire that makes it go out the mobo to the digital in on my receiver to get dobly digital 5.1 and pro logic 2 working? my ps2 is hooked up like that and sounds great. i know theres go to be a way to at least get 4.1 or 5.1 out of this setup. if not wat soundcard do you reccomend. i am tight on cash do to my job and the holiday season. thanks guys sorry for crappy grammer

From a picture I looked at on Newegg, it looks like the orange RCA plug next to the PS/2 ports is going to be your digital audio out.

Use that.

They call it "COAX" in the digital audio realm, but it's really just an RCA plug. Over a short distance, you can use pretty much any RCA patch cord to hook it up, although it's best to use a true 75 ohm coax cable labeled for composite video or digital audio. (They're the same cable, so don't pay a premium for a "digital audio" cable if there's cheaper 75 ohm "video" cable sitting right next to it.)

You may need to mess with the soundcard settings to get 5.1 out of it, maybe even to enable it in the first place. (Look for settings that say SPDIF-RAW and SPDIF-PCM--I forgot which one you need for 5.1, but you'll figure it out.)

Obviously, you'll need to be sure the proper input is enabled on the receiver too.

i have the older version of the mobo this one

unfortunatly it doesnt have the orange plug, looks like i need to purchase a new sound card with that plug on it damn. i have an extra turtle beach santa cruz sitting around would u reccomend slapping that in? does that have the digital out option? would that even be better then the onboard overall even if it doesnt solve this situation?

Perhaps there is an expansion plug on the mobo for use with digital audio bracket.

RTFM, google, or check the respective support sites for the mobo and sound card.
