HELP with Sata drives

Ok im going to get a sata drive and heard people have problems installing them. I dont understand this raid 0 raid 1 config. I will only have 1 SATA hard drive and of course use the ide as a slave and master dvd burner and dvd drive. can someone tell me the normal steps for installing a sata drive (new mother board) im ging to get either an 875 intel motherboard or a abit 875(ic7) what problems am i going to have ps is there much performance difference between sata or ata 100

no performance difference betwen PATA and SATA, just neater wires

to install SATA drive, you need to press F6 during WINXP install to load the SATA drivers or else your computer won't recognize the drive...if you just have one drive, don't need to worry about RAID 0 or 1.

Raid 0 - Example, taking a 10MB file and split it into half and save each half on separate drive, one drive fails, bye bye data.

Raid 1 - take a 10MB file and copy the exact duplicate on the other drive. One drive fails...hahaha i have backup sucker!!!

Also, don't forget that you have to enable things in BIOS .. like SCSI ... that you don't have to do with IDE drives. There are several threads in the Technical Support forum that cover this nicely.
