I need some major help with my monitors default settings. i have a Samsung Syncmaster 955DF monitor and i was trying to fix a problem on it. the clock on the right side of the screen was really blurry. i tried to fix it and started messing with FOCUS, MOIRE, COLOR1 2 and 3. i was unable to fix it but now the text on a large part of the monitor is so blurry that i can't even read the URL i am typing. is there anyway someone, who uses the same monitor, can give me the default values for the above mentioned 5 settings? or does anyone know a way to revert the settings to factory defaults? any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

it's a case of "RTFM" :p

page 25 . . .

Recall

Use the recall feature to reset these monitor settings to their original
levels: Position, Size, Pincushion, Trapezoid, Parallelogram,
Pinbalance, Rotation, Clear Moire.
Note: If you have selected "Yes", all settings listed above will be reset.
All other settings will remain the same.
1 Push the Menu ( ) button.
2 Push the ? button or ? button until the Advanced screen is displayed.
Push the ? button or ? button to select Recall.
3 Push the Menu ( ) button to open the recall selection screen
4 Push the ? button to select YES. If you don't want to reset the monitor,
use the ? button to select

edit: the "?" and "()" replaces the symbols used in the pdf . . .

the entire manual is a good read if you are having problems or want to tweak your monitor's settings.

Yours may have a real problem . . . . "troubleshooting" suggests unplugging your monitor from the computer (after it is off, of course) and checking the display for "errors" . . . there are other "self-tests" ;)

yeah mate...i have read all of that...but i was wondering if there was a way to revert the FOCUS and COLOUR 1 2 and 3 values back to factory defaults. i have already RECALLed once. and it has not helped me. the last thing i want to try before i buy a new monitor is to get those values back to what they were before is started messing with them. i want a flat panel monitor pretty bad but they are too expensive right now and i don't want to spend 200 dollars on another one of these mammoth monitors. it would be wicked nice of you if you could just give me the default settings or your settings. that way i will definitely know that i have a FUBAR monitor. thanks for the reply mate.

i'll spell it out . . . read the darn manual. There are over 50 pages in pdf that give detailed instructions on how to do everything . . . you NEED to TEST it for yourself . . .

(!)

as i remember, my monitor needed tweaking for quite some time to get it exactly how i wanted it . . . i doubt that my setting are either 1) default or 2) satisfactory for your eyes. ;)

It's only ~2MB d/l. :p

edit - just a "guess" now, but i bet your monitor is FUBUR (2nd "u"=user; not all repair . . . samsung could adjust the convergence but it'll cost if you are out of the 3 year warranty).

From my experience, If PART of the screen got blurry usually meant i needed to upgrade my monitor . . . sooner rather than later. :(
