I am looking to sign up for AT&Ts dry loop DSL elite for $20/month for 1 year. I cam currently riding off of someone wifi in the neighborhood. But it is stating to get flaky and slow at times. THe elite is 6Mbps down and 768 Kbps up. Im sort of a noob to the networking side but not a total noob.
Right now i do not own a router or modem. Are the modem or wifi gateway ATT good? Would it be better to buy my own router and modem? If so any recommendations? An all in one router/modem or seperates? Or will the AT&T gateway be sufficient?
I will hardwire the main desktop to the modem/router and run my wifes laptop, Wii, and PS3 off of wifi for streaming netflix. I would like it to be as fast as possible so im assuming the wireless n would be the way to go? What is the 5ghz i hear about?
Thanks,
