Help with replacing laptop hard drive

I have a really dumb question. I would like to replace the 6 gb hard drive on my Toshiba 2755DVD Satellite laptop with something at least 20gb to 30gb in size. Do I have to purchase such a drive from Toshiba or can I get it from any laptop drive manufacturer? Are there any compatability issues between manufacturers of laptop drives for my application? Thanks!
 
Laptop drives come in various physical thicknesses which the specs will indicate. If the replacement drive is too thick it won't fit.

Does anyone recommend a particular brand of laptop drive? Thanks!
