I built my system 3 years ago when the AMD Athlon X2 4400+ dual core came out. I have a A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard that just died for the second time - had to replace it about 18 months ago. My nephew thinks it's better for me to wait until Nehalem comes out before redoing my system and I agree.

SO I want to get another motherboard that is compatible to what I have and was wondering if there are any suggestions for mobos that will work with my DDR memory and EVGA 6800GT 256 mb PCI-E.

Thanks in advance

Check the FS/FT forum here for 939 parts posts. IF you find another A8N you won't even need to reinstall Windows.

Or just get a P43 / P45 motherboard and an E8400 now. 3 GHz is reasonably fast and you can always overclock it to 3.6 GHz later.

It may be 6-12 months before buying nehalem makes sense for anything except bragging rights.

You can get a Gigabyte P43 motherboard, 4 GB of DDR2, and an E8400 for $350 or less depending on the Hot Deals. Add an ATI 4850 for $150-175 or a 4870 or GTX 260 for ~$250.

Edit: and you can get $60-100 for the 4400+ on eBay, plus another $30+ for 2GB DDR1 and at least $15 for the video card.
