Help with repeating sounds in Win98 SE on laptop...

I have a IBM ThinkPad 760EL which works quite well, but system sounds and sounds on webpages repeat over and over. Sometimes they start repeating right at the beginning of the sound, or around the middle. I have onboard ES1688 AudioDrive audio. I checked for device conflicts, but none were reported. I also downloaded the latest driver from the ESS Technology website, but the sounds still repeat.

MIDI files as well as any sound file play's fine through windows media, but if it's linked to a system event, it repeats.

Has anyone else encountered this sort of problem on their ThinkPad or computer, and how did you solve it?

Hmm you did what I would of done and got the new drivers.

I would say its a windows problem. Do you have all the updates and service packs for windows?

Also what version of windows do you have.

I have Windows 98SE.

However, I seemed to have solved the problem by downloading the Windows 95 drivers (surprise, surprise). So If anyone else has this problem, try downloading the windows 95 drivers from the ibm website.
