help with remote connecting to a winxp box

I just setup my old PC with winxp with a computer name "test1". The PC is not connected to a domain and is part of the default workgroup. I have created my own account which is a member of administrators.

When I try to remote connect to it, it seems to connect fine but then I get the XP login screen. I typed it my username/password but the login is complaining my username and/or domain is wrong. The error message is "The system could not log you on, make sure your username and domain are correct".

Both PCs have the same username and password.

e.g.
pc1 (osx using rdp client from MS) user = test1 password=mypassword
pc2 (the one I'm connecting to) user = test1 password = mypassword
I changed the username for pc2 but it has no effect

any ideas?

Thank you

I just set one up the other day for the first time myself. My remote computer was Administrator account, not just an account with Administrator privileges. Also the user name and password are different on both computers. I made sure Remote Desktop was enabled in system properties, and I made sure Windows Firewall allowed the connection. Wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and double check and make sure the workgroup names are the same.

Let me know if you are still stuck.
