Where is the icon located for the recycle bin? I deleted mine a looooooooooong time ago and cannot for the life of me remeber how I did it. i know it wasn't with any tweaking type software because i only have tweakui installed. I thought it was through the registry but when I looked it up th ekey is already there? SO i guess I'm stuck with just creating a shortcut to it (if possible).
thanks

In tweakui under the desktop selection, recycle bin is not listed????? That's where i thought it was originally. Any other place to check?

You sure you have this key ?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\

With a (Default) string, data: "Recycle Bin"

Have you tried deleting it then re-adding it ?

well, I deleted it, added it back, and then restarted. Still not there.

I have a ghost of my drive that I was planning on re-imaging soon. I may do that in the near future.
But isn't there an actual icon somewhere in the Windows or system 32 folder for the Rec. bin? I thought I had seen it before at some point and time but can't find it now.

when you click on a shortcut and select change icon. You can then hit the browse button.
navigate your way through to c:/windows/system32/ folder and click on shell32.dll you will see the icon there.

I created a shortcut to shell32.dll. I then right clocked/Properties and clicked change icon. navigated abck to the system32/shell.dll, selected it and then changed the icon to the recycle bin icon. Doesn't do anything., Maybe I didn't do something correct but it just gives the caution box asking what program do I want to use to open the .dll file????

oh you said you didnt know where to find the icon restoring after deletion is another issue try this.

start menu/run
type regedit
navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\explorer\Desktop\NameSpace.

In the left pane, right-click the NameSpace key and select New, Key.
Type exactly {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and press Enter.
you will have created a folder with that number for a name now open that folder
and, in the right pane, right-click (Default) and select Modify. In the resulting Edit String dialog box,
on the Value data line, type: Recycle Bin and click OK. Close the Registry Editor,
click the desktop once, press F5 (for refresh)

modify registry at your own risk good luck.

should be a check box for recycle bin.

if not you could try the repair icons but I don't think that will do anything,,after that I am outa ideas sorry

Using version 2.10.0.0 and I just have 4 choices. IE, My Comp, My Docs, and My Network Places.
Oh well. It's my own fault. I just can't remember what method I used to get rid of it?????????? No big deal though.
Thanks for trying.
