Greetings,

I'm at a lost. I have everything installed with the P5Q deluxe board but cannot access my raid volume. It is present in the intel matrix storage console but not in windows explorer nor in the admin tools under storage.

They are all plugged in and the bios is set for raid (installed drivers with the floppy).

If I delete the raid volume the 4 drives pop up (found new hardware). I now have access to them as any hard drive. I have formatted them with the admin tools (using ntfs). All is normal.

Then when I use the intel matrix storage console to create a new raid volume everything seems to work fine. I am creating a raid 5 array using 4 new WD 1T green drives.

Once I hit finish, the volume name appears in the ballon "found new hardware...".

Then when I try to modify, scan or repair the array, it says I need to initialize the drive. I do that it takes around 17 hours to do... but then once its done (it says successfull) nothing... (this is my 3rd time trying)...

I can still see the array under volumes and the 4 drives with the matrix storage console but windows can't seem to access it....

Any help will be very appreciated,

Thank you,

Zegg

I am not sure if you did this, but that board has SATA connectors that are specifically for RAID.

Look at your manual at the TOP layout and you should see that there are 4 ports that are "only for RAID"

Plug your RAID drives into those and you should be ok.

You could also use the "Drive Expert" feature on that board. It creats a RAID array as well. If you do this, you have to use the SATA ports for Drive Expert. The manual shows you where those are.

I'm pretty sure they are all in the correct port...

raid drives in port 0,1,2 and 3

port 4 unused

port 5 is system disk (non-raid member).

I just swapped my power supply for a 650w antec neopower (had an antec 500w before)

Read on asus forum that is could maybe be a problem... I don't think it will help but I'll post once init finishes.

Both drive expert ports 0 and 1 are unused...

Thanks for the reply,

Okay well still nothing,

I have tried changing power supplies, I have the latest intel matrix storage console and I'm tiring of trying things over and over... Can anyone sugggest a stand alone raid adadpter?

Any preference over adadptec, highpoint 3ware or other?

Thanks...

4 ports, pci-e and raid 5 are what I need at a minimun...

Cheers,

Have you tried calling ASUS tech support? I have called them a few times in the past and they were very helpful.
